Privacy Policy

JRP Hunter (“we”, “us”) operates jrphunter.com, an independent Japan Rail Pass price comparison and buying guide. This page explains what data is involved when you use the site, and the third-party services we rely on. We aim to collect as little as possible.

What we collect

  • No accounts.You don't sign up, and we don't store personal profiles or sell data.
  • Contact messages. If you use our contact form, the name, email and message you submit are processed by our forms provider (Formspree) and delivered to us so we can reply.
  • Standard request data. Like any website, our hosting and CDN process technical data (such as IP address and browser headers) to serve pages and protect against abuse.

Currency detection

To show prices in a sensible default currency, we read the country your network is in from a Cloudflare header (country level only, not a precise location) and map it to a currency. You can override the currency at any time with the selector on the page. We don't store this.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We display ads through Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-4847568936875158). Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and personalise ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can control ad personalisation in Google's Ad Center and learn more at How Google uses cookies in advertising. Consent for personalised advertising (where required) is managed through Google's own consent mechanism.

Analytics & tags

We use Google Tag Manager to load measurement tags, which may set cookies to help us understand aggregate, non-identifying usage (such as which pages are popular). This helps us improve the guide.

Spam protection

Our contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which performs a privacy-friendly challenge and may set a temporary cookie to confirm you're not a bot.

Other third parties

  • Open Exchange Rates: currency conversion rates, fetched server-side; no visitor data is sent.
  • Reseller links: when you click through to a seller, their own privacy policy applies.

Your choices

You can clear or block cookies in your browser, opt out of personalised ads via the Google links above, and ask us about any data you've sent through the contact form.
